We've shipped this platform across the most common patterns — find the closest fit to your operating model.

  • General insurers

Motor, health, travel and property carriers in India, GCC and Africa moving 20-60% of retail GWP to direct digital channels.

  • Life insurers

Term, ULIP and savings carriers digitising simple-issue products with tele-underwriting and instant issuance up to defined sum-assured limits.

  • Bancassurance partners

Banks and NBFCs embedding insurance into mobile and net-banking apps with co-branded journeys and CASA-linked premium deduction.

  • Aggregators and marketplaces

Multi-carrier comparison platforms in Kenya, India and Nigeria that need carrier APIs, lead routing and post-sale servicing in one stack.

  • MGAs and digital MGUs

Specialist underwriters launching niche products (gig-worker, device, EV, parametric) who need to be in market in a quarter, not a year.

  • Affinity and embedded partners

Telcos, e-commerce, mobility and fintech players embedding insurance at point-of-need via white-labelled or API-only integrations.

Solution overview

In depth — how this platform runs.

The long-form view of capability, architecture and deployment model.

Insurers selling motor, health, travel or term life direct to retail customers need a platform that closes the sale in minutes, not days — and that issues a real policy, not a placeholder PDF that sits in a queue waiting for back-office keying. Redian builds digital insurance platforms that connect the customer-facing journey to your policy administration system, payment rails and underwriting rules so a quote becomes a bound, paid, issued policy in a single sitting.

What it does

A Redian digital insurance platform handles the full direct-to-customer journey end to end. The customer lands on a branded web or mobile flow, enters minimal data, gets a rated quote in seconds, completes e-KYC, pays through the local rails (UPI, M-Pesa, card, net banking, wallet), and receives a signed policy document and certificate by email and in-app — typically inside three to five minutes. The same platform handles renewals, mid-term endorsements, soft-copy retrieval, and FNOL for claims notification.

This is not a marketing microsite bolted onto a legacy PAS. Quoting uses your real rating tables, pre-issuance checks hit your real underwriting rules, and issuance writes directly to your policy administration system so the policy is in force the moment payment clears.

Where it fits

The platform suits general insurers and life insurers selling simple-to-moderate-complexity products direct to retail customers, bancassurance partners distributing through bank apps, and aggregator-backed insurers in markets like India, Kenya, Nigeria and the UAE where mobile-first buying is the dominant channel. We have shipped equivalent stacks for aggregators (see the InsureMe Kenya build) and for carrier-direct journeys where the insurer owns the customer relationship rather than renting it.

Lines we have implemented: private car and two-wheeler motor, individual and family health, inbound and outbound travel, term life, personal accident, home contents, and SME package covers.

What we deliver

A typical engagement covers:

  • Product and quote engine — configurable product factory for cover variants, add-ons, IDV/sum-insured logic, NCB handling, and discount rules. New variants ship without code changes.
  • Customer journey — responsive web and native mobile flows, vehicle/RC lookup, prefill from existing customer records, OTP login, save-and-resume.
  • e-KYC and identity — Aadhaar e-KYC, PAN verification, CKYC pull, OCR for ID documents, video KYC where the regulator requires it, and biometric capture on field-agent devices.
  • Payment and reconciliation — integration with payment gateways and local rails, automatic reconciliation against the GL, refund handling and partial-payment workflows for instalment products.
  • Underwriting and STP rules — straight-through processing for clean risks, knock-out rules for referrals, and a structured queue for underwriter review when the rules don't decide.
  • Issuance and document generation — PAS-backed binding, dynamic policy document and schedule generation with regulator-mandated wording, digital signature and stamping.
  • Renewals and servicing — automated renewal invitations, premium recalculation, NCB carry-forward, soft-copy retrieval, address and nominee change endorsements.
  • Distribution flexibility — the same platform serves your owned channel, partner banks, embedded checkout for travel and e-commerce partners, and a thin agent app for assisted sales.

Where pricing needs to move beyond static tables, we plug in an ML pricing and rating engine. Where broker-led D2C is in scope, we extend into the insurance broker management system.

Why Redian

We build for insurers, not for a generic e-commerce template. The team has implemented core insurance systems across motor, health, life and travel in India, Kenya, the UK and the UAE, and we know how to write to regulator-mandated wording, hold premium in trust, generate compliant policy documents, and pass IRDAI / IRA / NAICOM / IA audits. Delivery runs under our CMMI Level 3 appraised process, with documented requirements, traceable test cases and a release cadence that doesn't break in-flight policies.

Most carrier-direct journeys we have rebuilt go from issuance times measured in hours or days down to under five minutes, and from PDF-and-email policy delivery to live-in-the-app issuance. The platform connects cleanly to our wider insurance practice — PAS, claims, reinsurance, broker management — so the D2C front end is not an island.

Working with Redian

We typically start with a four-week discovery: target lines, product rules, partner integrations, regulator constraints and a working clickable prototype of the buy journey. From there a first line of business goes live in 10 to 14 weeks, with subsequent lines layering on the same platform. Talk to us through contact, or read how we have built equivalent stacks for direct and aggregator-led insurers in our case studies.

Why Redian

What makes this platform different.

Independent reasons clients pick us over incumbents and over generic global platforms.

  • Insurance specialists, not generalists

We have shipped PAS, broker, aggregator and carrier-direct platforms across India and Africa — the team knows IRDAI, IRA, NAICOM and CBN expectations before kickoff.

  • Mobile-money and UPI native

Payment orchestration is built in, not bolted on. M-Pesa, Airtel Money, MTN MoMo, UPI, cards and wallets are first-class citizens with reconciliation and refund flows ready.

  • Plugs into your existing PAS

We do not force a platform swap. Our digital layer integrates with Premia, OneShield, Guidewire, FINEOS and legacy in-house PAS through documented adapters.

  • CMMI Level 3 delivery

Appraised processes, traceable requirements and audit-ready documentation — what regulators and your internal audit team expect, not a startup-grade README.

Frequently asked questions

Everything you wanted to ask before the demo.

Don't see your question? Ask us directly →

How long until we can sell our first policy through the platform?

For a single product line — typically motor OTP or term life — we target nine months from contract to public launch, including regulator filings and pen-testing. Subsequent lines drop in within 6-10 weeks each because the rating, payment, KYC and issuance plumbing is already live.

Do we need to replace our existing policy administration system?

No. The digital platform is designed as a customer-facing layer that integrates with whatever PAS you run today — Premia, OneShield, Guidewire, FINEOS or a legacy in-house system. We build documented adapters for quoting, issuance, endorsement and renewal so policies issued online are real, in-force records in your system of record.

Which payment rails are supported out of the box?

India: UPI, cards, net banking and major wallets through RazorPay, PayU or Cashfree. Africa: M-Pesa, Airtel Money, MTN MoMo, Flutterwave and DPO. Global cards via Stripe. Reconciliation, partial refunds, failed-payment recovery and chargeback handling are part of the standard build, not add-ons.

How do you handle e-KYC and regulator compliance?

We integrate with country-appropriate rails — Aadhaar offline KYC, DigiLocker, PAN verification and CKYC in India; National ID, NIN and KRA PIN in Africa; Emirates ID in the UAE. Every issuance carries an audit trail covering KYC evidence, AML/PEP screening, consent capture and underwriting decisioning, sized for IRDAI, IRA, NAICOM and CBN inspection.

Can the platform support our agent and bancassurance channels too?

Yes. The same rating and issuance engine powers a partner portal with role-based access for agents, brokers and bank RMs, including assisted-buy journeys, commission tracking and lead handoff. Bancassurance deployments add SSO with the bank's mobile app and premium debit from the linked CASA account.

What happens to conversion after launch — do we own the funnel?

Yes. You get a conversion analytics dashboard covering drop-off by step, device, product and traffic source, plus heatmaps and A/B testing hooks. Your product team can change copy, reorder steps and tune offers without engineering tickets; we run a release train for deeper changes on a fortnightly cadence.

How is data residency and security handled across regions?

Deployments are region-pinned by default — Mumbai for India per IRDAI guidance, Nairobi or Johannesburg for African carriers, UAE-local for GCC. We run on AWS or Azure with VPC isolation, encryption at rest and in transit, OWASP-aligned secure SDLC, and annual VAPT. SOC 2-style evidence packs are produced on request for your audit and reinsurer reviews.
